Brad BuchOne of the biggest problems with our education system is the curriculum. If the truth was taught, students and their parents would absorb it like a sponge. They would be learning together at the kitchen table.
The ELL (English Language Learner) program is not a racist model. It is an opportunity for non English speaking students to learn. The more we learn, students and adults, the more productive our society becomes. Also the less reliant we will become on government services.
Everyone speaks on the importance of education. Not everyone understands why it is so important. Knowledge and truth bring people together for discussion. Collectively, as individuals, is how we solve our social and economic issues.
Long term goals - Reform education funding
· Per child allocations dependent, in part, on test scores and other achievements. School maintenance and other costs included as well. Poor performing schools should be closed or consolidated.
· Eliminate some of the excessive regulations that are requiring additional administrators. 65,000 administrative and support staff compared to 55,000 teachers is an unacceptable ratio.
· Set up a voluntary advisory board for each school district consisting of at least two teachers, two parents, two students and one school board member. They should have a voice in curriculum, scheduling, budgeting issues, etc.
Short term goals - Full detailed accounting of where the money is being spent.
· School choice for parents. This should not only be for public or charter schools, but should also include private and home schooling. With approximately $9,400.00 per student per year being allocated, schools should be competing for their students.
· Consolidate some school districts if appropriate.
· Require better oversight from the Superintendent of Schools regarding poor performing public or charter schools.
